Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education is proud to announce opening of its “Star Schools” in Gilgit in some of the most deprived communities of Gilgit.

Our first Star school opened in Ishpitas – Gilgit. Ishpitas is in the heart of Gilgit but on a hill. With no road access, electricity and lacking basic facilities this community of only 180 houses had no school for children at all. As part of our partnership with American Refugee Committee to educate 1 million children in Pakistan, PAGE with support from the local community has now opened the school officially. The learning will start to take place from 1st of September. As the community has no school, PAGE will be providing extra shift for boys as well.

Second Star School opened in Sharothingi – Gilgit. Sharothingi is on the outskirts of Gilgit with very poor phone connectivity and no internet. The Haji Sb from Sharothingi donated the land for a community schools. AKRSP then helped build a small building with two rooms and a small yard for the school. However, no one was able to set up the school in the area due to non availability of funds for teachers, uniforms, books and stationery. PAGE has now taken over the building and will support the community with running the school by providing financial and technical support.
